TS Galaxy will take on Stellenbosch at the Mbombela Stadium in the PSL on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are currently in sixth place in the league standings, while the visitors are second. After a shaky start to the 2023-24 season, TS Galaxy have begun to find their best form of late. They have gotten themselves into contention for a Confederation Cup spot, currently on 34 points after 21 games, one point behind Supersport United in third place. The Rockets were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup last weekend, beaten 2-0 by Chippa United. However, they now return to the league competition, where they have been very good lately, currently riding a three-match winning streak and unbeaten in their last four. One of the major reasons behind their recent success has been their defence, which has not been breached in any of their last four league games, dating back to the start of March. The hosts have proven to be formidable opponents on home turf this season, boasting eight wins, two draws, and just one loss in 11 matches. Additionally, they are currently enjoying a five-match winning streak at home, a run that dates back to November 2023, starting with their victory against Polokwane City.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch are enjoying a very good season so far, and unlike their opponents here, they will be a part of the last four in the Nedbank Cup, having beaten Supersport United 4-0 last week. In midweek, Stellies played out a 1-1 draw agaisnt Sekhukhune United, which extended their current unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions. In the PSL, they are unbeaten in 15 matches, dating back to a 3-1 loss to Sundowns back in September last year. Owing to their solid form, Stellies are now up to 40 points after 23 games, three points clear of Orlando Pirates in third and 13 behind the runaway leaders Sundowns. Stellenbosch have performed impressively away from Danie Craven Stadium this season in league matches, securing six wins, four draws, and suffering only two losses. They are aiming to extend their current eight-match unbeaten streak away from home. The visitors won the reverse fixture 3-0 at home and are the marginal favourites in this one.
