Trabzonspor are third in the Turkish Super Lig and only a place behind visitors Fenerbahce. However, the hosts are a massive 27 points behind their opponents. They are currently in the Europa League position, three points ahead of out-of-form Besiktas who have lost their last two league fixtures. The Burgundy Blues are in good form though with their last three league fixtures being won. Their most recent league game saw them beat Karagumruk 5-1 at home but that team is in the relegation zone. Trabzonspor have won nine home Super Lig games this season but been beaten four times. They will be out to complete a league double over Besiktas having beaten them 3-2 away last November.

Since that defeat Fenerbahce have gone 18 league fixtures unbeaten. Despite that good run they are still two points adrift of leaders Galatasaray. That will be extended to five if the league leaders win at Kasimpasa earlier in the day. Their most recent league game saw them beat Pendikspor 4-1 at home and that made it four league wins in a row with 11 goals scored. Away form for Fenerbahce has been excellent this season in Super Liga. They are yet to be beaten and have won 13 out of 14 league games played with the last eight all being won. Only Adana Demirspor in mid-November have taken a home point against them. It's a tight battle at the top and even draws may well be a major blow to hopes of winning the title.
