AEK Athens took a fourth minute lead in the first leg of this tie but still ended up losing 3-1 to Trabzonspor. Caleb Ekuban hit a hat-trick to put the Turkish side in a strong position to win the tie and make it to the group stages. They haven't reached that far since the 2014/15 season but their opponents have to score at least three goals to have any chance of reaching the group stages. Trabzonspor are in great shape at present with no defeats in their last 19 games (only four of which have been friendlies). They have won six out of the last eight at home (just two being friendlies) and have only lost one of their last six home games in this competition. 

It's going to take an almighty comeback for AEK to reach the group stages. The past two seasons have seen them reach the group stages in European compettition, including the Champions League last season.  AEK's failure to win the first leg meant it was six home games in a row without a win in European competition. They drew at home in the third qualifying round against Universitae Craeova but then won the away leg 2-0. Three of their last four away games in European competition have been lost and they have only scored in two of the last seven. Go for a home win in this game.
