Tottenham vs Newcastle Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
Tottenham Hotspur have found their footing after the faulty start to the season and will be looking to register three more points when they host Newcastle United this Sunday. The North London side posted its first win in the league in the last match with a 5-2 thumping of Southampton and comes from a 3-1 win over Shkendija in the Europa League. Meanwhile, Newcastle also had a midweek win, thrashing Morecambe 7-0 in the Carabao Cup to recover from their 3-0 loss to Brighton in the league earlier. Tottenham took control of their midweek game against the Macedonian minnows but were made to labor for the win in the second half after Valjmir Nafiu’s equalizer. It took late goals from the on-form duo of Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane to settle the clash. The result means Spurs have no clean sheet this season, which will really excite Newcastle, who have scored in three of their four matches so far. Twice in their last three matches, Spurs have come from behind to win, which shows their fighting spirit but Jose Mourinho will be aware of their shortcomings in defence, having conceded five goals in four games. They have managed to outscore their opponents though, which is the most important thing Mourinho will be focusing on at the moment and with Gareth Bale set to come in, Spurs will be boosted greatly in attack. The last three matches, all of which Spurs have played away from home, have ended in wins and the team has scored 10 goals. They are back at home, where they have four wins in the last five league matches and the agenda in this clash should be to bag three points. Eric Dier and Matt Doherty were rested in the midweek win and should come back to the squad well rested.
Spurs have kept three clean sheets in the last five home league matches and getting these defensive players fresh for the game will boost their chances too as they seek to rise from their opening loss, at home to Everton. The North London side has five wins in the last six meetings with Newcastle United and none of the last 17 meetings between the two has ended in a draw. Newcastle United, on the other hand, has registered one win over Tottenham in the last six meetings; the 1-0 win came last season at this same venue. Spurs, however, beat Newcastle 3-1 in the return match. Newcastle head to this game on the back of a 7-0 away win over 10-man Morecambe in the Carabao Cup and after a poor showing against Brighton in their most recent league game, they will be hoping for some reprieve in North London. The opening win over West Ham United pointed to good times for the Magpies but their loss in the second game erased much of that hope and Newcastle will head to London as underdogs, having just one win in eight league matches. Actually, in 22 league games, they have four wins and they have been poor defensively in their recent matches. In the last 10 matches in the league, they have two clean sheets, while they have conceded two or more goals in six of their last eight matches. Credit to them though, they have scored in seven of their last 10 league matches but having managed just five away wins last season they have a lot of improvement to eye as they head to this game.

Our Tottenham vs Newcastle Prediction
Tottenham Hotspur have found their footing after the losing start to the season and coming from an away win in the Europa League, they will be well motivated for this game. They will no doubt be the favorites, but will be concerned by their lack of clean sheets, while they also start games slower, as seen in their four matches so far. Spurs have not led at half time in three of their last four matches and have trailed at some point in three of the four matches. They are still patching up defensively, and looking at Newcastle United’s scoring form, we believe the visitors will score here. Spurs have one of the most potent attacks in the league and we believe they will outscore the Magpies and with that, we will go for a half time/full time bet of Draw at the break and Spurs to win at full time.
