Tottenham vs Manchester United Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Joseph King | in Premier League Predictions
With their top four hopes quickly dissipating, fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur look for a response when they host fourth-place Manchester United for matchday 33 of the English Premier League. A humiliating loss in their last fixture means Spurs now sit six points behind Manchester United for the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot. To make matters worse, both United and Newcastle (also six points ahead) have games in hand on the North London side, meaning the gap could grow even further with only a few matches left in the season. Manchester United, on the other hand, will be looking to pull ahead of third-place Newcastle who they are currently even with points with. The Red Devils trail the Magpies on goal differential but have a game in hand advantage meaning they control their own destiny for third-place.

Tottenham - Manchester United: Form Analysis
It’s been a tough two weeks for Tottenham fans. Their team conceded deep into stoppage time against Bournemouth in matchday 31 to lose 3-2 at home and would follow that up last weekend with one of the team’s worst losses in recent memory. Newcastle were rampant when they hosted Tottenham at St. James’ Park on Sunday, going up five goals in the first 20 minutes of play to ultimately win the match 6-1. The result would lead the Spurs’ brass to make yet another managerial change this season, replacing former interim head coach Cristian Stellini with ex-Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason. Tottenham are now looking at only one victory in their last five matches, in a stretch where they have also conceded 14 goals. The hosts could also be in serious risk of losing out on their Europa League qualification spot as Liverpool and Brighton both have games in hand and can leapfrog Spurs if they are able to convert those into wins.
Manchester United should come into this match in high spirits after their penalty shootout triumph over Brighton to set up a FA Cup final meeting with Manchester City. The result was a much needed boost after the Red Devils suffered a heavy 3-0 away loss to Sevilla in the match prior to exit the Europa League at the quarter-final stage. Despite losing only once in their last six matches, the recent goal scoring slump may come as a worry to some Manchester United fans. It’s the first time that Erik ten Hag’s side has been kept off the scoresheet in back-to-back matches all season. With that being said, United have still managed to win their last three on the trot in the Premier League. They managed to net five goals in those three matches while keeping three consecutive clean sheets as well.

Tottenham & Manchester United Squad Analysis
Tottenham have been dealt an injury blow to their starting goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who was withdrawn at half time in the team’s disastrous first 45 minutes against Newcastle. The 36-year-old shot stopper is looking at some extended time on the sidelines and is set to miss out for this one. Additionally, manager Ryan Mason will be without the services of Rodrigo Bentancur, Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon who are all dealing with injuries of their own.
For the visitors, Erik ten Hag could be without influential midfielder Bruno Fernandes who seemingly picked up an injury in his team’s FA Cup semi-final win over Brighton on the weekend. Fernandes has not officially been ruled out of this fixture but it’s not looking likely that he will take part in the match. Also missing out for Manchester United are Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Donny van de Beek, Tom Heaton, Phil Jones and Alejandro Garnacho. Workhorse midfielder Scott McTominay is a doubt for this fixture as well.

Our Tottenham vs Manchester United Prediction
It’s hard to back this Spurs team at the moment as they are passing through an extremely difficult period. To make matters worse, they haven’t recorded a win against Manchester United in almost three years. The visitors will be disappointed by their Europa League exit at the hands of Sevilla but their FA Cup success, coupled with their fine run of form in the league, should propel them to victory here against an in-turmoil Tottenham.
