Tottenham vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Joseph King in FA Cup Predictions
The fourth round of the FA Cup sees a mammoth clash between two of the Premier League’s best as Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester City. The winner of this matchup will advance to the final 16. Both clubs take a short break from their pursuit of the Premier League crown where they are separated by just three points in a competitive race. Man City are the defending FA Cup champions after a fantastic treble-winning season which included the league and Champions League. Tottenham exited this competition last year in the fifth round after a 1-0 loss to Sheffield.

Tottenham - Manchester City: Form Analysis
Spurs had to twice come from behind in their latest match away to Manchester United at Old Trafford to claim a point in a 2-2 draw. It was a result which continues Tottenham’s strong run of form as they have now recorded five victories, one draw and only one defeat in their last seven matches across all competitions. Among those victories was their 1-0 home win over Burnley in the FA Cup third round to advance to this stage. Ange Postecoglou’s side is now up to fifth in the Premier League table, three points off third-placed Aston Villa. These two teams played out a wild 3-3 draw back in the beginning of December in the league which saw the Lilywhites snatch a 90th minute equalizer. Neutrals will certainly be hoping for a repeat performance and if Tottenham matches have taught us anything this campaign, it’s that we can expect goals.
Cup holders Manchester City roll into London looking for their seventh consecutive win across all competitions. The visitors advanced to this round of the tournament by way of a dominant 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town. They would follow that up with a breathtaking comeback win over Newcastle six days later. Kevin De Bruyne made his return after a lengthy injury layoff with a second-half substitute appearance and dragged his Sky Blue teammates to the three points. The Belgian maestro netted the equalizer in the 74th minute before providing the assist for the match-winner in the 91st minute of play. The result extended City’s unbeaten run to nine games and moved them up to second in the Premier League standings, five points off Liverpool but with a game in hand.

Tottenham & Manchester City Squad Analysis
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou will have to navigate a few of his key players missing due to the AFCON and AFC Asian Cup. Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr and, most importantly, Son Heung-Min all miss out here due to international commitments. It’s still touch-and-go for a number of other Tottenham players such as James Maddison, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies and Manor Soloman who could be deemed fit to take part in this match.
Pep Guardiola has a few concerns regarding the health of his squad with the majority of the spotlight on Norwegian hitman Erling Haaland. Last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner will miss out here as he continues to recover from a foot injury. There are also doubts over whether goalkeeper Ederson will take part after a collision knocked him out of the team’s win over Newcastle. Backup Stefan Ortega is expected to start between the sticks for the visitors.
