Tottenham have it all to do if they want to reach the EFL Cup final. They are the home side in this semi-final second leg but trail visitors Chelsea 2-0. One bonus for Tottenham is that away goals do not count double in this competition. If that was the case, one Chelsea goal would mean them needing to score four in this game. That's not the case but Tottenham really can't afford to concede in this tie, their job is already difficult enough. They conceded two goals in the first half of the first leg at Stamford Bridge. Keeping the score at 2-0 will help Tottenham's cause but they are not in the greatest of form in recent games. They struggled to win at Watford, couldn't win at Southampton and had to come from behind to defeat Morecambe in Sunday's FA Cup tie. Their last five home games in this competition have all been won, though two were penalty shootout victories. In both 2019 and 2020 Tottenham had home EFL Cup wins over Chelsea (one via penalties) but they will need to improve their form to get back into this tie.

Chelsea have seen their Premier League title hopes diminish considerably in recent weeks. This is a good chance to win a cup though, with Arsenal or Liverpool their possible opponents in the final. They have only lost one of their last 23 league and cup games and beat Chesterfield 5-1 at home on Saturday. Away form has only seen them lose at Juventus and West Ham this season. The last two on the road have produced wins at Brentford and Aston Villa. They can of course lose this game by the odd goal and still make the final. They will want that goal that will make life a lot more difficult for their opponents. Four of their last six away games have seen both teams score and Chelsea have only failed to score in two out of 14 away games this season. Back both teams to score in this game.
