The final fixture in Group E at the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers will be a dead-rubber match between Togo and Equatorial Guinea on Sunday evening. The Sparrowhawks are bottom of the group standings, while the National Thunder are in second place. Let’s get into the prediction.

Togo’s wait to return to the main draw of the Africa Cup of Nations was extended last week when they were beaten 1-0 by Liberia on the road. 

The Sparrowhawks have managed just two points from five games in qualifying and will not be heading to Morocco next year, with six points separating them from second place. 

The result against Liberia also marked Togo’s third consecutive defeat in these qualifiers, and the side has now only won one of their last 10 across all competitions dating back to mid-March.

Meanwhile, Equatorial Guinea put on a resilient performance to take a point of group leaders Algeria at home last week in a match that ended goalless. 

That result, though, took the National Thunder to eight points, four clear of third-placed Liberia, meaning that they are guaranteed second place in the group and qualification to the main draw. 

While the visitors are the favourites in this one, their away form has been quite poor, with only one win posted in their last six games, while they failed to score in four matches during that period.
