Tenerife welcomes Girona to the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López for this promotional La Liga 2 playoff final. The first leg of the tie ended goalless but Tenerife will start as favourites on their home ground. They finished the regular season in fifth place but in the playoff semi-final they easily saw Las Palmas 3-1 on aggregate. Tenerife were not severely tested by the team that finished above them in the regular season as they won the home and away legs. They faced a much sterner test in the first leg of the final as they were held to a goalless draw. Tenerife will be quietly confident of rejoining La Liga after 12 years because they are unbeaten against Girona in their last three matches. They have not had much success at home only winning two of their last six matches.

Girona had a much more difficult path into the final as they had to go to extra time in their semi-final against Eibar before finally prevailing 2-1. They finished the regular season in sixth place but this did not faze them as they knocked out the third placed team in the playoff semi-final which was a stellar performance. Girona have not been in the best of form as they have only won two of their last seven matches with two draws and three losses. Girona have been in better form away from home losing only one of their last four matches on the road.
