Talleres de Cordoba will be at home on Monday against Gimnasia La Plata in their next Argentine Liga Professional match. With two rounds of play left Talleres sit second in the Primera Division standings while Gimnasia are down in 22nd place. Talleres can only finish as high as second with River Plate already crowned champions. They will seek to hold onto this position and protect their two-point cushion on third place. Javier Gandolfi’s charges have been excellent throughout the season and have won 14 of the 25 matches they have played thus far. Adding to six draws they have amassed 48 points. Albiazul now need only one win to be assured of qualifying for next season’s Copa Libertadores group stages. They arrive for this round with a five-match unbeaten run with three of those fixtures ending in victory. Talleres defeated River Plate 1-0 last time out in the Copa Argentina and have now not conceded a goal in four consecutive matches. They have an even longer unbeaten run when playing at home. In their last match, Gimnasia were defeated 3-1 at home by Boca Juniors and have now conceded five in their last two games. Los Triperos have won three of the last four matches against Tallares so this should have them confident heading into this round.
