Sydney FC play host to Western United in the final round of the A-League regular season this weekend. Top of the table and champions of 2019-20 A-League season, Sydney are preparing for yet another Finals series ahead of this match. They triumphed in last year's Finals series after missing out on league glory. Western United are currently sixth in the table, a high enough spot to qualify for the Finals. They are level on points with Adelaide United in seventh but have several games in hand over their rivals. Western United were only founded in 2018 so there isn't much of a head-to-head record between them and Sydney to study. The only previous meeting going into this game was late last year, which Sydney won 2-0 thanks to an Adam Le Fondre double.

Sydney have been very strong at home this season, winning nine of their 12 matches. Western United won't be too fearful as they have travelled well this season, managing to stay unbeaten in eight of their 12 away games. Sydney finished top of the table quite comfortably this season and thus have taken their foot off the gas over the last few weeks. They have failed to win their last four games, the last three of which have been away from home. The return to Leichhardt Oval may have a positive effect on their form. Western United have been in terrific form since returning from lockdown, winning three of their four matches. With games in hand on the teams above them, they will know that a few positive results could see them climb the table. Western United have scored at least two goals in five of their last six games and we believe that they are worth backing double chance.
