The penultimate match of gameweek 27 in the A-League will see Sydney FC playing host to the Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium on Sunday. The Sky Blues are sixth in the league standings, while the Jets are ninth after 23 games. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Sydney FC are right in the thick of the race to qualify for the Finals Series, currently holding the last qualification spot, just one point above seventh-place Adelaide United. 

While the Sky Blues saw their AFC Champions League Two campaign come to an end in midweek, they have been in good shape in the domestic league, losing only one of their last eight games. 

However, their home form has been less impressive, as they have failed to win any of their last four games at the Allianz (W0 D3 L1) and conceded two or more goals in three of those matches. 

Meanwhile, the Newcastle Jets moved to 29 points last week, when they recorded their biggest win of the season, smashing six goals past Central Coast Mariners without a response.  

That result took the Jets’ recent record to five wins, three draws and just two defeats in their last 10 games, a period during which they scored two or more goals in seven matches. 

On the road, the visitors are unbeaten in their last four games (W2 D2 L0), which is a notable upturn of form after losing four of their preceding six outings.
