The two sides leading Group I of the Euro 2024 qualifiers, Switzerland and Romania, will face off on Match Day 4. Hosts Switzerland are top with nine points and Romania have seven points in second ahead of this game. The Swiss are coming from a 2-1 away win in Andorra, their third straight win since the 6-1 thrashing by Portugal. Switzerland’s last five matches have all ended in over 2.5 goals, the team scoring two or more in four of them. Seven wins in the last 10 matches place Switzerland as favorites coming into this game. They are nine matches unbeaten at home in Euro qualifiers, which will push their confidence even higher. Switzerland have actually won each of their last six games in Euro qualification. They will however miss striker Breel Embolo in this game as he is out injured. The Swiss can however rely on Zeki Amdouni, who has three goals in four senior team appearances. Top stars including Granit Xhaka, Xherdan Shaqiri and Ricardo Rodriguez will lead the team.

Romania’s 0-0 draw with Kosovo in their last game ended their run of three straight wins. It was their third clean sheet in four matches and the first time they failed to score in five. In terms of the strength of opposition, Romania haven't faced Switzerland’s caliber. This will thus be a tough game for them. Romania have scored two or more goals in three of their last four matches. In their last three away matches they kept clean sheets. In Euro qualification, they don’t have a really great run. In 10 matches, they’ve managed four wins – all against lowly ranked nations. They beat Malta, Faroe Islands, Belarus and Andorra. Losses to Sweden, Spain and Iceland in that period indicate struggles against stronger teams. Nicolae Stanciu will lead the side out in Luzern but for another game they will miss goalkeeper Ionut Radu.
