Switzerland vs Lithuania Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Nella Wagah | in World Cup Predictions
The last time Switzerland were to host an international fixture, the game was called off after their opponents, Ukraine had positive Covid-19 reports. They will have another chance when they welcome Lithuania in a Group C encounter in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. While Switzerland are playing their second game in the group, Lithuania are just getting started. The hosts registered a 3-1 away win in Bulgaria, just their second win in the last nine matches, though one win was awarded. They have four losses in the last nine matches and seek to stabilize well in time for the Euros with this being the best chance. Switzerland are seeking a 13th appearance at the World Cup and playing in the qualifiers lately has been a piece of cake for them. They’ve lost just once in the last 31 World Cup qualification matches, against Portugal in 2017 and failed to score in only two of the last 18. In the last 15 qualification matches, the Swiss have won 13, and at home they are unbeaten in 15, winning 11.
As for Lithuania, they shaped up for this game with a friendly match away to Kosovo, and they suffered a 4-0 loss. That defeat extended their run without a clean sheet to four matches and they only have three clean sheets in the last 17 matches. Lithuania go to this game ranked 129th and their run towards this match hasn’t been the best, with five wins in the last 29 matches. They’ve lost three of the last 10, while they have three wins in the last 16 away matches. In the last seven World Cup qualification matches, Lithuania have no win, while their only win in the last 11 was against 176th ranked Malta back in 2016. Away from home in the qualifiers, Lithuania are winless in eight, and have conceded two or more in five of the eight.

Our Switzerland vs Lithuania Prediction
Switzerland have a fine run in World Cup qualification matches, especially at home. They face a side so lowly ranked and a known underperformer at this level. The Swiss have struggled a bit in their recent matches but will want to build on their strong start to these qualifiers. This is going to be the third meeting between these two nations; each of the earlier two has produced over 2.5 goals. In Switzerland’s form in qualifiers, we can bet this too will see three or more goals scored.
