Switzerland vs Ireland Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Steve Ashfield | in Euro Predictions
Switzerland’s last match ended in a 0 – 1 defeat at the hands of Denmark, who went joint top with Ireland after the Irish played to a shock 0 – 0 draw with Georgia in Tbilisi. Ireland will be keen to go clear at the top with this game and they will want to reap on Switzerland’s unimpressive run of form. The Swiss have managed just one win in their last six matches. They seem to have suffered a great deal from their losses in the final stages of the Nations League and though they have the guarantee of going to the playoffs for Euro 2020 qualification, it could be much easier if they try to go top of Group D. If Switzerland can win this game, the remaining two are much easier and they can actualize their target to top the group. Switzerland have lost just two of their last 13 Euro qualification matches but at home they are unbeaten in the last six, winning five. They have four clean sheets in the last six home matches in Euro Championships qualifiers. They have scored three goals or more in each of the last six Euro qualifiers at home.
Ireland on their part, are unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions and as they head to this game, they seek to pick points that will keep them at the summit. They played to a 1 – 1 draw with Switzerland in the reverse fixture in Dublin and will be seeking to add to the only win they have managed in the last nine away matches. Ireland beat Gibraltar 1 – 0 in March in their only away win since November 2017. While they have not won much away from home, they have not lost any of their last five away matches, winning one and drawing four. They have four wins and four draws in the last 10 away matches in Euro qualifiers but are unbeaten in the last four, winning one and drawing three.

Our Switzerland vs Ireland Prediction
Switzerland have had a great run at home in their recent matches and they will hope to carry the same to this clash. They are unbeaten in the last six Euro qualifying matches at home and they will be hoping to close in the gap with Ireland. On the other hand, Ireland have not been winning a lot away from home, but are also unbeaten in the last five. While Ireland bring a tough challenge to the clash we feel Switzerland will have enough to carry the day; we thus go for a home win.
