This is only the second match for Switzerland and Germany in the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League but both need a win. Switzerland do more than their opponents as they lost their opening fixture in Group 4 of League A 2-1 away in the Ukraine. The Swiss side reached the finals of the first Nations League tournament, losing in the semi-finals to Portugal and then losing the third/fourth place play-off to England. Any hopes of repeating that feat or doing better will go out of the window if they lose a second game in a row in this group. They went behind in the Ukraine in the first half, but grabbed an equalizer four minutes before the break. However, it was the home side that took the three points with a goal from Zinchenko 22 minutes from time. Switzerland had won their previous three internationals as they secured qualification for the next European Championships, now due to be held next summer (hopefully). Home form has seen them unbeaten in their last five games since defeat in a friendly by Qatar.

The last time these two countries met was eight years ago. Switzerland won that friendly 5-3 but it was their first win over the Germans since 1956. Germany drew their first game of this group with their home game against Spain ending 1-1. They took the lead six minutes into the second half but will be kicking themselves after conceding a 96th minute goal. They'll know that was a game they should have won though they certainly didn't have it all their own way against the Spaniards. The other game in this group sees Spain host Ukraine and the Germans won't want to see the visitors (who they travel to in their next fixture) get anything from that match. Germany are unbeaten in their last six matches since losing a Euro 2020 qualifier to the Netherlands. That's their only loss in the 13 games played since the last Nations League. Their away form in 2018 was appalling but it's certainly improved since then. They have won their last four in a row, including wins over the Netherlands and Northern Ireland. Go for an away win here to get their Nations League campaign back on track.
