Sweden vs Switzerland Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in World Cup Predictions
Sweden had an eventful group to say the least. They struggled to get a 1-0 win over South Korea in their opening game but then looked to be beating Germany until two goals in the second half saw the Germans get the win. Then it all came good with a 3-0 victory over previously unbeaten Mexico that saw them not just qualify but win the group. That 3-0 win over the Mexicans came despite having only 33% of the possession and allowing their opponents 20 shots. They kept it solid at the back despite that and have only conceded one goal to date in Russia. Their counter-attacking style has worked well for them and if they employ the same tactics against Switzerland, there's every chance they can make it to the quarter finals.
The Swiss qualifed in second place behind Brazil but they haven't been that impressive at times. They did well to come back from a goal down to get a 1-1 draw against Brazil in their opening game but their opponents should have won that match comfortably. Switzerland had to come from behind in their second game too and eventually got a late goal to beat Serbia 2-1. Their final group match was a 2-2 draw with Costa Rica in which they twice led only to end up drawing thanks to a 93rd minute equalizer by their opponents soon after it looked as if Switzerland had got the winner in the 88th minute. It was an own goal by Swiss goalie Yann Somers that cost them the win with the ball bouncing into the goal off his head after a missed penalty. With luck like that you don't win World Cup tournaments. This looks like being a close game and the tip here is for the match to end in a draw after 90 minutes.

Our Sweden vs Switzerland Prediction
This looks like a game that could well go to extra-time and perhaps even penalties. Switzerland have already drawn two of their games in this tournament and struggle to keep clean sheets. Sweden have been unpredictable so far with a struggle against South Korea but showing improved form against Germany and definitely against Mexico. Two of the last three games between these two nations have ended in draws and the tip here is for this match to end in a draw after 90 minutes.
