Sweden vs New Zealand Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Kennedy Kechula in Football Predictions
Sweden are set to host New Zealand on Friday in a friendly match in preparation for their Euro qualifying campaign. The European nation comes to this match having won five of the last six matches. Last time out, they thumped Azerbaijan 5-0. Sweden’s last five games have been at home and they’ll seek another win here ahead of next week’s qualifier against Austria. They started their Group F campaign with a demoralizing 3-0 loss to Belgium but recovered against Azerbaijan. The Blagult missed out on last year’s World Cup and will not want to miss out on another major competition. Head coach Janne Andersson has a strong squad at his disposal led by strikers Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres. Dejan Kulusevski is another high-profile player in the squad and so too is Emil Forsberg.
New Zealand are maximizing the window by playing friendly matches; after the Sweden game, they will play Qatar in Vienna. Darren Bazeley’s charges ended a six-match run without a win when they defeated China 2-1 in their last match in March. The All Whites have struggled for goals in the lead-up to this game. They have managed just two goals in their last seven outings. They will hope to address that here. Bazeley is holding the New Zealand job on an interim basis. The New Zealand Under 20 tactician has left out several players who have recently excelled at club level. Recently crowned UTE A-League champions James McGarry and Storm Roux who play for Central Coast Mariners aren’t in the squad. Sam Sutton and Dane Ingham were also not included. Callan Elliot, Tim Payne, and Francis de Vries are some of the players to have made the latest list.
