Sweden vs England Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Valeria Di Meglio | in World Cup Predictions
England fans had another stressful evening when they took on Colombia on Tuesday. It looked as if another Harry Kane goal had given them a 1-0 win but then Colombia equalized in second-half injury time. No further goals were scored and it went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out. England had lost three of them before in the World Cup but this time it was different and they managed to get through 4-3. There are no major injury worries after that game apart from Jamie Vardy but he's an unlikely starter anyway having come on as sub on Tuesday. England's side are gradually gaining experience and with Kane in such good form they look the team to beat. It'd just be handy if Sterling could finally get on the score sheet, perhaps he's saving that for the final, who knows? The defence is improving too and Maguire put in a great performance against Colombia.
Sweden struggled to get a 1-0 win over Switzerland earlier in the day. They last reached the semi-finals in 1994 but you have to go back to 1958 for their previous appearance in the last four of a World Cup. Sweden don't get to see too much of the ball in their games, averaging 38% in the group stages and just 33% against the Swiss. They don't care though, just sitting back and hitting teams on the counter-attack as when they beat Mexico 3-0. Sweden have kept five clean sheets in their last six games and will be difficult to break down but England's pace is going to cause them plenty of problems. Switzerland had their chances on Tuesday but just couldn't take them, England will most likely not make the same mistake and can be backed to win this game and reach their first semi-final since 1990.

Our Sweden vs England Prediction
England have the momentum and after surviving that penalty shoot-out their confidence will be sky-high. They have the pace to make life very difficult for the Swedish side who will most likely again see a low possession percentage rate. This time though they are up against better strikers than the ones Switzerland had on show and it's England who can get the win here to reach their first semi-final since 1990 and keep alive their hopes of a second World Cup win.
