After two and a half months, the PSL returns this week with Supersport United taking on Stellenbosch on Friday evening. The hosts are third in the league standings, while the visitors are fourth. The race for the top three is red hot this season and this could be a crucial match with just three points separating these two sides. Supersport United are currently on 29 points, level with second-placed Cape Town City, while Sundowns have opened up a nine-point lead over the rest. Before the AFCON break, Matsatsantsa suffered an unexpected 3-1 loss against relegation candidates Richards Bay that halted a three-match win streak in all competitions. At home, the hosts have a record of five wins and two losses in seven games. They also beat this opponent in the reverse fixture back in August and are the favourites heading into this one.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch will be looking to pick up where they left off before the international break.
