SuperSport United have a key game at home when they host Modern Future in the CAF Confederations Cup in Group A on Sunday. Going into this game, SuperSport are bottom of the group while Modern Future are second. For the hosts, three straight losses badly dented their chances. They however rose to the occasion on Match Day 4, beating Al Hilal, to keep their hopes alive. Any more dropped points from this stage going forward will mean one thing – that they can’t progress past the groups. With three points from four matches, SuperSport United will hope to rise to third with a win here. They are doing well domestically, where they are well in the title challenge but they’ve struggled to replicate it here. In their last three matches, they’ve failed to win outright, most recently drawing 1-1 with Cape Town City. The hosts will however take positives in the fact they won it on penalties. Matsatsantsa have also scored in each of their last seven matches, a run they will want to take to this game.

Egyptian side Modern Future, like SuperSport will also be seeking a win here to boost their qualification chances. With two wins in their opening two group games, they set themselves on the right track for the quarters. One of those wins was against SuperSport United on Match Day 1. They know a win here will ensure they advance to the next stage and will be eyeing that. However, with just one win in their last 10 matches, Modern Future are not in the shape to challenge SuperSport away. In their last outing, they twice lost the lead to draw 2-2 with Al Mokawlook in their domestic league. They failed to score in the last two Confederations Cup matches, losing one. Meanwhile, they haven't done well in their away matches in the competition, with four losses in five. Modern Future have played nine away matches in the Confederations Cup and managed just two wins.
