Sunderland will hope for a solid performance when they return home to host Watford in their next Championship match. The Black Cats are placed fourth going into this match against 12th placed Watford. Below is our prediction for the match.

It has been a shaky period in Sunderland’s recent matches but they remain in contention for automatic promotion. Regis Le Bris’ men are fresh from a 3-2 comeback win at Middlesbrough.

That win enabled them to stay within striking distance of the top two, being just three points out. They also have a game in hand and will seek to rise from two winless outings at home.

Watford aren’t on a very strong run as they prepare for this match. They will be keen on bouncing back after three straight wins. The latest of those was a 1-0 home loss to Norwich at the start of February.

This run has left the Hornets clinging on to a mid-table position. Despite their struggles, Watford remain contenders for promotion. They are just three points below the promotion playoff positions.

Being a congested race, they’ll know dropping more points at the moment could turn detrimental. One win only in nine matches, however, doesn’t paint them in a very positive picture. They’ve also lost nine of the last 14 away league matches.
