Ahead of this game, they fell 2-0 at home to Middlesbrough, making it two straight home matches without a win. They’ve also conceded four times in those two matches, and will be happy to go on an away game. It has been more fruitful on the road for QPR, who have three wins in the last four away games. These wins include a famous 2-1 victory over league leaders Leicester City, and it fueled their belief in the survival race. At 39 points, and in 20th place, QPR have the right bounce to open up a gap from the red zone. A win here could see them leap three places ahead. Having failed to beat Sunderland in their last four meetings, the Hoops will feel this is the best chance to end the run. They lost the reverse fixture 3-1 – the second straight time they conceded three against Sunderland.
