Another defeat in midweek has left Sunderland on the brink of relegation. They are 12 points from safety with just five games to go and the inevitable drop to the Championship could happen this weekend. After this game against Bournemouth, they face fellow strugglers Swansea City and Hull City but even if they were to win three in a row, their last two matches of the season are away to Arsenal and Chelsea so Championship here we come. Form is appalling at present with no wins in nine games and they have only scored in one of those games. At home they have gone eight without a win and even Jermaine Defoe hasn't scored for them since February (hence the goal drought). Bournemouth begin the weekend in 13th place seven points above the bottom three and only two adrift of a top ten finish. They only have two defeats in their last eight league games and they were to Chelsea and Tottenham. Away form has seen them get draws at both Manchester United and Liverpool. It's a long way from the south coast of England to the North East so the relegation of Middlesbrough and Sunderland will save them a few quid, shame Newcastle are back though next season.  Sunderland are struggling so much at present and Bournemouth can get the win here.
