Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction & Betting Tips - DFB Pokal
by Devesh Jaganath in DFB Pokal Predictions
The Round of 16 in the DFB Pokal concludes with Borussia Dortmund heading to MHPArena to take on VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday evening. The draw for the next round of the competition will be held on December 10. Stuttgart come into this match carrying good momentum. They won their weekend fixture 2-0 against Werder Bremen, extending their recent league run to three wins in a row. Notably, the first of those victories was against this opposition at this venue last month. The Reds are currently in third place in the Bundesliga standings, five points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen. They entered this competition in round two with a 1-0 win over Union Berlin and will be hoping to go a step further than the semi-final stage, which they reached last season. The hosts have won their last three on home soil and are marginal favourites to progress at the books.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund will also come into this match with confidence after taking a point away from the league leaders last week. That also extended their unbeaten run to three matches in all competitions, with their last loss being the one against this opponent on November 11. The visitors were beaten by the eventual cup winners RB Leipzig in the quarter-final of this competition last season. The Prussians currently lead their group in the Champions League and are guaranteed a spot in the knockout rounds. They are fifth in the Bundesliga, though, and will need to make up ground if they are to challenge for the title this season. Due to their European and Bundesliga aspirations, it remains to be seen how much priority Dortmund place on this tournament.
