German champions Bayern Munich travel to Stuttgart for a Bundesliga clash at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena on Saturday. Bayern are top of the table with 19 points from eight games, but a rare slip-up at home to Werder Bremen saw them drop two points last weekend. It allowed Borussia Dortmund, powered by the rampant Erling Haaland, to close the gap at the top to one point. Stuttgart are eighth in the table with 11 points from eight games. A victory over Bayern - as unlikely as it seems - could potentially take them as high as sixth in the table. While inflicting defeat upon Bayern is a tall task for any team, Stuttgart have put together a solid run of form in the build-up to this fixture. Draw specialists, Stuttgart are unbeaten in seven league games, five of which ended level. Their home record is less impressive. Winless on their patch in four games, Stuttgart have at least found the back of the net consistently during that sequence, scoring six goals across the quartet of poor form. Bossed by American Pellegrino Matarazzo, Stuttgart have struggled against Bayern in recent seasons, losing 18 of their last 19 meetings. 

Shrugging off the setback against Werder, Bayern recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday, extending their record run of wins in the competition to 15. Hansi Flick rotated his team for the Werder tie with the international break in mind. Several Germany internationals sat on the bench while the likes of 17-year-old Jamal Musiala got his first start for the club. Bayern have won 23 of their last 24 away matches in all competitions. However, they have not always looked to be at their imperious best in recent weeks. A failure to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five away games suggests that Stuttgart can get on the scoresheet. Back Bayern to win and both teams to score.
