Stoke City was recently eliminated from the League Cup by a Premier League club and they will be hoping that doesn’t happen again in the FA Cup, when they face off with Leicester City in the third round. The Potters will be at home in Staffordshire to host Leicester and are gunning for a first win in five games after going winless in the last four. They have one win in eight matches and have failed to score in four of their last seven matches. The hosts have not been very expressive in attack, failing to score more than one goal in the last 11 matches, but head here with seven clean sheets in the 11 matches. In the Championship standings, they are two points off the playoff slots and should feel happy at their season so far. However, their recent form at home should be a worry, having won once, lost thrice and kept just one clean sheets. The Potters have scored just three goals in the last five matches, and four of the five goals they have conceded in the last four matches have come in the second half. They have failed to score in just one of the last five home matches though, and worse, heads to this game with no win in their last six FA Cup matches – they have lost five and drawn one. The team has also not kept a clean sheet in the last 14 FA Cup matches and has lost the last two home matches in the competition. Head to head with Leicester, Stoke have no win in the last six, losing two and drawing the rest.

On the other hand, Leicester won their last match ahead of the FA Cup week, beating Newcastle United 2-1 and are now unbeaten in four straight games. So far, it has been a good season for the Foxes; they are third in the league and just a point behind leaders Liverpool. The big concern for Leicester heading to this game will be that they have managed just one clean sheet in the last five matches, but they have managed to deal with this by outscoring opponents. In the last eight matches they have failed to score in just one, and have scored two or more goals in six of their last eight matches. They have the fourth best attack in the league this season, having scored 31 goals and head to Staffordshire unbeaten in four away matches – with three wins therein. Leicester have scored twice in three of the last four away matches but kept just one clean sheet in the last five away games. Six of their last seven goals came in the second half and it is that time that they are most potent. With eight wins in 12 away matches, they will have the needed confidence and this will be pumped up by the fact they have three wins and three clean sheets in their last four FA Cup matches.
