It's not long ago that Stoke were dreaming of  a Capital One Cup Final and a top six finish. It's all gone sour though in the past month or so and just finishing in the top ten is a target now. The last three league games have seen them concede four goals as they tumbled to heavy defeats against Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester City. They have just one win in their last seven league games with no wins in their last three home matches and eight goals conceded in those games. Overall Stoke have lost 14 league games this season and seven of those have been at home. All those stats make pretty pleasant reading for Sunderland who are desperate to win this game. The last two games have produced four points and taken them out of the bottom three but only on goal difference. After this they have three games left, two consecutive home games as they face Chelsea and Everton and a final day trip to Watford. The last ten league games have produced 12 points and really important for them is that boss Sam Allardyce finally seems to have sorted out the defence with three clean sheets in the last four games. Away form has also picked up with that crucial 3-0 win at Norwich a fortnight ago and a three game unbeaten run. With Norwich at Arsenal this weekend, a good result here could open up a gap with three games to go (two for Newcastle). Sunderland are definitely in the best form of these two sides and I think they can at least go home with what could be a vital point.
