Twelve league games played by these two sides have produced nine goals and this doesn't look like being a thriller. Stoke have had a strange season so far beating Arsenal and drawing with Manchester United but start the weekend in 16th place only a point above the relegation zone. That home win over Arsenal is their only league win so far and the 2-2 draw with United is the only time they have managed more than one goal in a game in the league. Their confidence can't be high after losing their last three games including a 2-0 loss to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup. They have only won one of their last five home league games and two of their 11 league games home and away. Southampton are 11th in the table three points clear of Stoke and gave Manchester United a good game last week losing just 1-0 at home. The trouble for Southampton is scoring goals with only four in the league this season and three of those came in the home win over West Ham and the other came against Crystal Palace and everyone scores against them. The need for a top striker is clear to be seen and they really should have let van Dijk go and use the money to further rebuild their side. Two away games in the Premier League have produced just one goal so it's no surprise the tip here is under 2.5 goals.
