The second semi-final in the MTN 8 will see Stellenbosch taking on Mamelodi Sundowns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Stellies currently lead the Brazilians 1-0. Let’s jump into the match prediction. 

Stellenbosch will be well-pleased with their performance in the first leg, as they managed to hold off the formidable Sundowns to enter this match with a slender advantage.

Stellies ended last season in third place in the league standings, 23 points behind Sundowns. They also failed to beat the Brazilians home or away during the league campaign. 

In this competition, the hosts won their quarter-final match 3-1 against TS Galaxy and now have the opportunity to go one better than last season, when they were beaten by eventual winners Orlando Pirates in this very round. 

Meanwhile, despite all their dominance last season, Sundowns were unable to earn themselves any of the cup competition silverware, as they were beaten in the final of the MTN 8 and bowed out in the semi-final of the CAF Champions League. 

However, in league terms, the Brazilians were unstoppable, as they went 29 of their 30 games unbeaten before losing the final match of the season - though, by then, they had already wrapped up the title. 

Sundowns overcame Polokwane City 1-0 despite going down to 10 men in the quarter-final and they now have a task on their hands to overturn this one-goal deficit.
