The CAF Champions League heads into matchday three this weekend, and in Group C, we will have Stade d’Abidjan playing hosts to Orlando Pirates on Saturday. Stade d’Abidjan’s long-awaited return to the top-flight cup of African club football has got off to the worst start possible, as they have lost their first two games and are rooted to the bottom of their group.

To make matters worse, Les Yeyes could be eliminated from qualification contention as early as this weekend if they lose this match and Al Ahly beat Belouizdad in the other match in the section. 

The hosts’ poor form has not been confinced just to this competition lately though, as they have also failed to win their last two league games. That sees them enter this match winless in their last four in all compeitions. 

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates’ return to Africa’s premier club competition has been promising, especially after holding defending champions Al Ahly to a goalless draw last time out. 

That result followed a 2-1 opening-round victory over Belouizdad, while across 19 matches in all competitions this season, the Sea Robbers have only suffered defeat twice. 

Notably, neither of those defeats were on the road and Pirates are curenntly on a four-match away win streak and kept clean sheets in three of those games.
