St Mirren vs Hamilton Academical FC Prediction & Betting Tips - Scottish Premiership

by Donal Kearns | in Scottish Premiership Predictions

St Mirren will host fellow relegation candidates Hamilton on Monday night at St Mirren Park as the sides aim to finish inside the safe zone. Who will achieve it? St Mirren’s somewhat woeful season has improved in the last few weeks and throughout 2019 in general. The Paisley side looked doomed despite having a managerial change early on in the season, with Oran Kearney coming in to replace Neil McCann. The Buddies’ were finally able to save themselves from automatic demotion after Dundee mathematically finished bottom last week, but it’s also thanks to the club’s great form as of late. Since the end of March, St Mirren have lost only once, which was to reigning champions Celtic. Moreover, Kearney’s side have only lost on 2 more occasions since mid-February after they were able to break a 5-game losing streak. They’ve beaten Dundee and Livingston as well as earning 3 points from as many draws against Hamilton, St Johnstone and Motherwell last week after Kyle Magennis stole a point in the dying minutes of the game. Hamilton are just a single point away from surviving the drop and remaining a Scottish Premiership side. The Accies’ relegation battle has been ongoing since the very beginning of the season, and the appointment of manager Brian Rice at the end of January was a good decision by the club in their quest for salvation. Rice’s success in his first managerial job has been nothing short of incredible, as Hamilton’s form since he took over has been extremely positive, especially with a team in the relegation zone. Moreover, the Accies have only lost 5 times since Rice took charge of the team, losing to Rangers, Hibs, Motherwell, Kilmarnock and Livingston. That last defeat to Livi was at the start of April, meaning that the Lanarkshire side haven’t lost a game in over a month, racking up a trio of draws before beating Dundee last week and sealing their fate.

Our St Mirren vs Hamilton Academical FC Prediction

This is a crucial game in the ongoing relegation battle, as it determines whether or not the last game of the season will be affected by this outcome. If Hamilton avoid defeat then they’ll be safe and will send St Mirren to the play-offs, but the Buddies do have an easier last game of the season should they gain any points from this clash. We’re going to back the hosts to win here, but by a narrow margin of 1-0. Betway have the best off of 2.1.
