Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus Prediction & Betting Tips - Europa League
by Devesh Jaganath in Europa League Predictions
The quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League are set to conclude this week when Juventus heads to Estadio Jose Alvalade to take on Sporting Lisbon on Thursday evening. The visitors are carrying a one-goal advantage into this one thanks to Federico Gatti's 73rd-minute winner in the first leg, and the Italian side are now 90 minutes away from a semi-final appearance against either Sevilla or Manchester United, who will be battling it out in Spain at the same time.

Despite being behind coming into this match, Sporting Lisbon are showing up as the favorites according to most bookmakers at odds of 2.25 to secure the win. The draw is returning in the region of 3.2 to land, while the visitors currently occupy the outside option, returning 3.5 and better for the win. With two strong defenses coming up against each other, opportunities to score could be at a premium in this match, and the over/under market looks very tempting at 1.7 for under 2.5 goals to be scored while under 3.5 provides less risk and still fairly good odds averaging 1.3, though you can find up to 1.4 on some bookmakers. Following that train of thought, Sporting have kept three clean sheets in their last five home matches, while three of Juventus' last five away matches have ended 1-0, which brings the both teams to score (NO) market into play at odds of 1.8 for its backers. While not favored to win the match in 90 minutes, Juventus are still expected to qualify according to bookmaker odds, with the visitors returning 1.36 to advance, while the hosts are priced at a very attractive 3.0 to reach the semi-final.

Sporting Lisbon & Juventus Squad Analysis

Moise Kean will have to pass a late fitness test for the visitors and could feature, while this match may have come too soon for Alex Sandro and Mattia De Sciglio, both of whom are expected to be out for at least another week. Paul Pogba will be pushing to rejoin the first team setup after featuring off the bench in their last match against Sassuolo over the weekend. As for Sporting, Jovane Cabral and Daniel Braganca will remain sidelined, with the pair still recovering from injuries, while Jerry St Juste will join them on the bench with a thigh strain that has ruled him out until next month. Having served his suspension, Manuel Ugarte will be hoping to make a quick return to the starting lineup, along with Hector Bellerin,

Our Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus Prediction
While Juventus have been far from their best in recent times, they have been very solid in defense for the most part and have kept four clean sheets in five away matches in this tournament already. Sporting struggled to create many clear-cut chances in the first leg, and needing just a draw to progress, we could see Juventus sit back and soak up the pressure, which could keep the scoreline at 0-0 for a fair period of the match. As in the first leg, the first goal could be decisive, but we will give ourselves some additional safety on the under 2.5 goals market as our main bet. Our Sporting Lisbon v Juventus prediction is under 2.5 goals.
