A win for Sporting this weekend could see a two-horse race for the Primeira League be created. Sporting are top and six points ahead of visitors, third placed Benfica. A win will take them nine points clear of their rivals, who could find themselves five behind second placed Porto. Sporting are the clear form side here. They dont just top the table, Sporting haven't lost a league game all season. 12 out of 15 league games have been won this season. Sporting are unbeaten in their last 16 home league matches with clean sheets in ten of them. This season they have only conceded nine league goals, while scoring 33. Recent form has seen them get League Cup wins over second placed Porto and Sporting Braga who are fourth. Now they bid to get a win against the side in third. Five of their last six home league games have been won.

Benfica can't afford to lose this game but aren't in the best of form at present. They have a habit of late of taking the lead in a league game but not going on to win it. That's happened in three of their last four league matches, all ending 1-1. Their title hopes were hit when doing that against Porto, a game they really needed to win. Their only win in the last four league games was a 2-0 home win over Tondela who have only earned one away point all season. Benfica's away form has seen them win four out of seven, but the last two have both been drawn. Sporting know how vital a win will be here, back them to get the victory.
