The new season of Major League Soccer will continue this weekend where one of the matches lined up will see Sporting Kansas City set out in search of their first win by hosting Seattle Sounders on Sunday. Kansas’ struggles have left them second from bottom in the Western Conference with two points while Sounders, also stuttering, are third with seven points in the same Conference. Kansas have struggled this early in the season and have lost two and drawn two of their four matches. Goals have been hard to come by for Peter Joseph Vermes’ men who have managed just one goal so far. They have however performed a bit better on the defensive end despite their struggles and have kept two clean sheets which have helped earn their two points. One of the points was earned at home against LA Galaxy, their only home match so far, and they will hope returning back there will result in them halting this winless start.
Seattle Sounders started the season in dominating fashion, winning their opening two matches without conceding a goal and scoring six. Brian Schmetzer’s men have however hit a snag and come into this match without a win in their last two matches. They suffered their first loss, in their first away match, by going down 1-0 to Cincinnati. They recovered last time out but could only manage a 0-0 draw against LAFC at home. Having won just once away to Kansas since 2015, this current form suggests that it could be another tough outing for them.
