The final Group F match in the Leagues Cup sees second-place Sporting Kansas City and third-place Chivas Guadalajara battling for a spot in the knockout rounds. The MLS club sit on one point while the Liga MX club are bottom of the group with zero. The winner of this match, either in regulation time or on penalties (two points awarded), will join group leaders Cincinnati as the two teams to advance. 

Sporting Kansas City took part in a wild match against Cincinnati to kick off their Leagues Cup campaign. The match would see six goals scored which included SKC blowing a two goal lead. They would then concede a dramatic equalizer in the eighth minute of stoppage time and eventually go on to lose in the penalty shootout. Sporting KC have managed to avoid defeat in four of their last five fixtures at the end of 90 minutes. However, three of those games would end in stalemates with only one resulting in victory. The hosts, who sit 11th in the Western Conference, are now on a stretch where they have recorded only one win in their last eight matches.

Guadalajara got blitzed early in their 3-1 defeat to Cincinnati, conceding twice in the first 10 minutes of play. A red card at the end of the first half all but ended the match for the Mexican club. Chivas will come into this fixture with the rest disadvantage. This is partly due to the fact that the final 30 minutes of their match against Cincinnati was rescheduled due to heavy rainfall. Despite the loss in their first Leagues Cup outings, it’s largely been a very positive start to the new season for Chivas. They’ve registered a perfect three wins from three in the league in which they scored a total of seven goals.
