The Stadio Paolo Mazza plays host to an interesting matchup that sees 14th placed Spal host Modena who are two places above them. Spal can go ahead of their opponents if winning this match. Spal are currently only above the two relegation play-out positions on goal difference and just a point clear of the automatic relegation spots. The hosts were defeated by Brescia at the weekend, in what was their fourth winless game on the spin and second without scoring. In fact, Spal’s lacklustre showings have become a theme of their season. They have now failed to score in six of their last nine games, and without an outlying 5-0 win over Cosenza, they would have the second worse attack in the division. Concerning their recent record against Modena, Spal have beaten them just once, with four of their previous five meetings featuring Under 1.5 goals. 

With regards to Modena, they managed to claim a welcome 2-1 away win over Parma, putting an end to a five game winless streak. They are only two points above the relegation play-out positions and three clear of the automatic relegation places. However, Modena are only four points behind the final promotion play-off position. The main issue for this Modena side has been their defensive instabilities. They have conceded in fifteen of their last seventeen games, keeping just one away clean sheet since February. They have also been poor on the road lately, winning just three of their last eleven away games. The away side do come into this game not having lost any of their last three league fixtures with one loss in their last four on the road in Serie B.  Modena have never won at Spal, let alone managing to score a goal.
