SPAL sit fourth in the table after the completion of three games with two wins and a defeat. Goals have been in short supply at both ends of the pitch with only three scored so far. Their season began with a 1-0 win at Bologna with the winner coming just 19 minutes from time. Another 1-0 win followed, this time at home to Parma before they lost their unbeaten record away at Torino and surprise surprise the game ended 1-0. It's better than last season though when SPAL finished a place above the relegation zone winning three out of their last four games to survive. Goals were a problem last season as well with only 39 scored and 22 out of 38 league games had under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Atalanta finished seventh last season to qualify for the Europa League but lost in the play-off round to Kobenhaven on penalties after two 0-0 draws. Their Serie A season got off to a good start with a 4-0 home win over newly promoted Frosinone who are still in the relegation zone and not scored a league goal yet. They then had a much more difficult game away to Roma but came away with a 3-3 draw but will be kicking themselves as they led 3-1 with half an hour to go. They lost their unbeaten record when going down 1-0 at home to Cagliari and come into this game with just one win in their last four league and cup games. They have just the one win in their last five away league games and drew 1-1 at SPAL last season. A bet on under 2.5 goals in this game looks like being a winner.
