It'll be a major surprise if Spain fail to win this Women's World Cup match against Costa Rica. This is a Group C match with the other two countries to face being Japan and Zambia. Spain are ranked eighth in the world and that's way ahead of Costa Rica who are 37th. The Spaniards are playing in only their third Women's World Cup finals. They failed to make it out of the group stage in 2015 but four years ago got to the last 16 where they lost to eventual champions the USA. The last three European championships has seen them lose in the last eight, with England beating them last year. They come into this opening match having won ten of their last 11 matches, including the last six. Their only loss in that number of games was against Australia in this year's Cup of Nations in which they finished second. Defensively Spain are strong with nine clean sheets in their last 11 internationals. Their most recent match saw them defeat Vietnam 9-0 in an unofficial friendly. Before that they beat China, Panama and Denmark.

Costa Rica are back in the Women's World Cup after missing out four years ago. Their only appearance in the finals has been in 2015 where they failed to qualify for the knockout stages. They played Spain in that group and managed to grab a 1-1 draw. Costa Rica then drew 2-2 with South Korea but then lost to Brazil 1-0. Spain finished bottom of that group but have made great strides since then. Costa Rica have only won two of their last 16 internationals. Those two victories came against the Philippines and most recently, a 2-0 win over Haiti at the start of this month. Since then, they've played South Africa in Auckland and were beaten 2-0. They have failed to score in three of their last five games and our suggested bet here is a Spanish win to nil.
