Spain vs Portugal Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Steve Ashfield | in Football Predictions
For four years starting 2008, Spain ruled Europe and the world, winning two European titles and the World Cup. However, they’ve been on a decline since and as they start preparations for the 2020 European Championships, they’ll be eying a return to the helm of European football. They start their preparation with a friendly match against the current champions, Portugal. Spain had a strong start to their World Cup qualification campaign and are also in the semi finals of the Nations League so they will be favorites in the Euros. Heading to this game, Spain haven’t lost in their last six matches. Their only loss in the last 23 matches was against Ukraine ion October last year. With one clean sheet only in the last seven matches, manager Luis Enrique has a tough task in his hands and handling a team in transition, he will have to pay special attention to this factor. In their last match, they claimed a 3-1 win over Kosovo, that coming back to back with a 2-1 victory Georgia, both in the World Cup qualifiers. A more memorable one will be the 6-0 thrashing of Germany in the Nations League. Each of the last three meetings between these two nations ended in draws, the most recent seeing no goals scored but in the long run, Spain have been dominant, winning 18 of 38 meetings.
Portugal have three clean sheets in their last four matches against Spain. The two giants met at the 2018 World Cup in a game that ended 3-3, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring all of Portugal’s goals. The Portuguese have won two major titles in a period their Spanish counterparts have been on a decline – the Euro 2016 and the UEFA Nations League title. Going to this game, both sides are sure to benefit massively by the quality of the opposition. Portugal are unbeaten in their last four matches and just like Spain, they had a great start to their World Cup qualification campaign, and will be looking to carry that here. They won two and drew one in their opening three games but go here with one clean sheet only in the last five matches. In their last 13 matches, they have one loss, against world champions, France. They have scored two or more goals in three of their last four matches

Our Spain vs Portugal Prediction
Spain and Portugal have drawn in each of their last three meetings and go to this game somewhat evenly matched. They both have scored two or more in three of their last four matches and in their recent matches, they’ve had very open contests. While the result in this game doesn’t mean a lot to the two sides, no manager would want to lose to a fellow pre tournament favorite days to the competition. We expect this to end in another draw for the two nations.
