Spain vs Poland Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Daniel Ngulu | in Euro Predictions
Poland suffered a shock loss to Slovakia in their opening Euro 2020 game and they will be seeking recovery against a Spain side also frustrated in their opening game. Spain missed a horde of chances in the 0-0 draw with a disciplined Sweden side and will be hoping to make things better when they take on Poland. Their preparations for their tournament were rocked with two players testing positive for Covid-19 and the pressure is even more heightened going to this game as neither team can afford a loss. Against Sweden, Spain met a team determined to sit back, and we expect Poland to try the same, hoping to catch the Spaniards on the counter. Alvaro Morata and Gerard Moreno were culpable of big misses against Sweden but it is still expected Luis Enrique will give them a chance against Poland. With a nine-game unbeaten run going to this game, Spain will have the better form and while they have three straight clean sheets, three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
Matches against Spain are never Poland’s favorites; the last time they met was 11 years ago and then Spain registered a 6-0 win. That was their seventh straight winless game against Spain and going here, they will want to formulate a good strategy to deal with Pedri, the creative mind in this Spain side. It will be harder for the Poles being without defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak who was sent off against Slovakia. It is in his area that Pedri prefers operating. Meanwhile, their star player, Robert Lewandowski doesn’t enjoy the supply at this team like he does at Bayern Munich and it has made him lesser productive at this stage. Spain are expected to dominate here, which means Lewandowski will either be forced to drop deep and help defensively or be contented with being isolated upfront. Poland also do not have a very strong run at European Championship finals – in 12 matches, they have only two outright wins. To make it worse, they head to this game winless in the last four matches across all competitions, and having conceded in each of them. In three of the last four matches, they’ve conceded two goals

Our Spain vs Poland Prediction
Poland’s best days haven’t come at the Euro finals, and neither have they come in matches against Spain. They head here under pressure, with a four-game winless run and facing much stronger players. Grzegorz Krychowiak’s absence will also be felt and they will struggle to cope with Spain who will definitely be pushing harder after the draw with Sweden. While Poland are expected to sit back for a better part of this game, a quick start is expected from Spain, and with a little more freedom for Pedri, the former champions should be good enough for a first half lead.
