What is our prediction for the Women's Olympic Football Group C clash between Spain and Nigeria? The bookmakers strongly favor World Champions Spain, who won their opening match in the group against Japan. However, defensively strong Nigeria knows that getting something from this game would give the Super Falcons a chance to make it into the knockout phase of this tournament. 

Spain's form over the last three years has been sensational. They are deserving World Champions and have scored in all their last 19 matches, winning 17. They came from behind to defeat a talented Japanese side 2-1 in their Group C opener and another win here would ensure that they progress into the tournament's quarter-finals.

With the nucleus of their World Cup-winning squad still at the heart of this Spanish team, it is unsurprising that they are one of the favorites with the bookmakers to win the gold medal. 

In contrast to Spain's dominance in recent matches, Nigeria have found things much tougher, especially in front of goal. Defensively the Super Falcons have been solid, conceding just two goals in their six games in 2024. However, they have only scored twice in those games and have lost their last two fixtures heading into this one.

Those defeats did come against reigning Olympic Champions Canada and Brazil, but Spain is a cut above both of those opponents. That will make this a very difficult game for the African nation, especially when you consider the major problems that they have in front of goal compared to the free-scoring nature of the opposition.
