Spain vs Malta Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro

Spain have already clinched qualification for the Euro 2020 finals. They haven’t quite won the group yet but that’s almost certain to happen after this home game against Malta who are bottom of the group. The Spanish side have piled up 20 points from their eight group games and have a five point lead over second placed Sweden. A draw from this game will win them the group but it’d be a massive surprise if that was the result. Spain have played eight previous matches against Malta and won all of them with 38 goals scored.  They are unbeaten in their last 17 European Championship qualifiers with a 20 home game unbeaten record. Changes have been made to their squad with players such as Morata, Isco , Llorente and Koke not included.

Malta have three points in this group which is fairly good for them. 110 European Championship qualifiers have only produced four wins. They got one in this group with a 2-1 home win over fifth placed Faroe Islands. Malta have failed to score in their other seven group matches but only conceded 18 goals in eight games. That’s far better than the days when they regularly suffered heavy losses, including a 12-1 defeat by Spain in 1983. Malta are still waiting for their first away win in the European Championship qualifiers. It’s 55 games and counting and they’ve been trying to get that away victory since 1963. They have showed some improvement of late and with Spain not having a full-strength squad, a handicap bet on Malta with a four-goal start can produce a win.
