Southampton are third in the Championship and host League Two Walsall in FA Cup round three. The Saints are only three points behind the final automatic promotion spot, while Walsall are 11th in League Two. Southampton drew their last game 1-1 at Norwich City after taking a second half lead. That draw ended a run of four wins in a row with 11 goals being scored. They started the season slowly but come into this game unbeaten in their last 18 games since losing at Middlesbrough in September. Home form has tended to be a problem for Southampton and was a major cause of their relegation from the Premier League last season. It's going much better this term and they have won their last seven games with 19 goals being scored. In four of their last five home games they have kept a clean sheet.
Walsall are 11th in League Two but it's a tight division and the Saddlers are only three points behind the final promotion play-off position. Their hopes of a return to League One have improved in recent weeks with three straight league wins. Only four away league wins have been recorded this season with seven games being lost. They have beaten non-leaguers Sheppey United and Alfreton to get to this third round. However, they needed a replay to get past Alfreton. They reached the fourth round last season (losing at home to Leicester City) but it looks unlikely they will this term. We go for Southampton to win and be ahead at both half and full time.
