Southampton vs Sunderland Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Two consecutive league defeats have left Southampton in 9th place and six points off a place in the top six. They might have to be hoping that a seventh place finish might get them in the Europa League as it did last season. Just two points separate them from Stoke City so there are still hopes of getting into Europe. The loss to Chelsea at home last week was a big disappointment after leading with a quarter of an hour to go. That was followed by a 2-0 loss at Bournemouth which just shows that when it comes to local derbies the form book does tend to get chucked out of the window. They need a win to get back on track especially with their next three games being against Stoke, Liverpool and Leicester. Sunderland also need a win but for very different reasons as they begin the weekend in 17th place. At least they're out of the bottom three which is the key thing really but only on goal difference from Norwich and Newcastle (who have a game in hand). With Villa doomed and a six point gap to 16th it looks as it's two out of three to go down from Sunderland, Norwich and Newcastle. The problem Sunderland have is their away form which is appalling with just four points from the last seven. I go for a Southampton win here to add to Sunderland's relegation problems.
