Southampton look to get back in winning ways when hosting Newcastle United. The Saints are 13th in the Premier League, a place and two points above their opponents. The loss at West Ham last weekend was their third loss in four league games and they are only seven points above the bottom three. Southampton won their last home league game (beating Aston Villa 2-0) but still have the worst home record in the Premier League. Only four out of 14 league games played at St Mary's have been won this season. However, all of those home league victories have come in the last eight games with two losses to Wolves and Burnley.

Newcastle United had a good win in the FA Cup on Tuesday but could do with some league points. They have only one win in their last ten league matches and again relegation is becoming a possibility. Newcastle are only five points above the bottom three but are having major problems scoring in the Premier League. Their last league goal was in that amazing comeback draw at Everton in January. Since then, Newcastle have played four league games without getting a single goal. Away form is another big problem with no wins in the last six league matches with four defeats. Go for a Southampton home win in this game for three important points.
