Southampton lost at Leicester last Sunday and need to get back on track if they want to have any chance of qualifying for the Europa League next season.  They trail sixth placed West Ham by four points and have played a game more. Their main hope could be a sequence of events that would make the seventh place they currently hold a Europa League qualification spot. The loss to Leicester ended a run of three league games without defeat including that comeback win over Liverpool in their last home match. The Saints have 13 points from their last six home games and will certainly make it difficult for Newcastle with Mane and Pelle in decent form at present. Newcastle really are in deep trouble now after losing at Norwich last weekend. That made it a shocking eight straight away league defeats for them, no wonder they are one from bottom and six points adrift of safety with a game in hand but inferior goal difference. Southampton are a decent home side and can get a win here to plunge their opponents into even more trouble.
