2018 hasn't been a great year for Southampton, just about the only good thing that's happened is they avoided relegation last season. That might not be the case this term as they find themselves starting December in the bottom three. They have only won one league game this season and have gone nine league games without a win. Even worse, midweek saw them knocked out of the Carabao Cup losing on penalties to Leicester City. Home form is a nightmare for the Saints with only one league win all year. It's seven home league matches without a win and just one in the last 17 and despite a vote of confidence, Mark Hughes needs to get some wins but five of their next eight league fixtures are against sides currently in the top seven.

Manchester United are one of those teams and need to get some points but for different reasons. They are seventh in the table, six points away from the Champions League places and 14 off the top spot. They can't afford that gap to get much wider and need to win this match. That's particularly the case because after this match, two of their next three games are against Arsenal and Liverpool. It took them a while but eventually they got the win over Young Boys in midweek and have only lost one of their last six league and cup games. They have already lost three away league games this season but have also won three and with the hosts in such trouble, the tip here is for an away win.
