Any hope that Manchester United had of finishing in the top four finally died when they lost 2-1 at Tottenham on Sunday. That defeat has left them in sixth place and seven points adrift of the top four with just two games left. Europa League football is guaranteed but they want the Champions League next season so everything rests on this season's Europa League final against Ajax. Mourinho rested plenty of players at Tottenham on Sunday and will do so again in the final two Premier League games, a logical decision for a team that has played 13 games in 44 days. Southampton might want a bit of revenge for losing to United in the EFL Cup final but otherwise have little to play for. They are ninth in the Premier League (three places behind United but a hefty 20 points) and could finish eighth which is basically best of the rest outside the top seven teams in the league who are on a level above everyone else. Southampton won at relegated Middlesbrough at the weekend and finish off their season with this match and a home game against Stoke at the weekend so eighth is still possible but they do just have one win in their last seven home league matches. With United playing a weakened side, go for under 2.5 goals in this game.
