Southampton vs Leicester Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Southampton’s battle for survival continues this weekend when they host Leicester City at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday in Round 26 of the English Premier League. The Saints come into this round rooted at the foot of the table with 18 points, four away from safety while Leicester are in 14th place with 24 points, just three above the relegation zone. Southampton have won five matches this season, same as the three immediate teams above them but their 16 losses, the division’s highest tally, is what is making the difference for them. Ruben Selles’ men were also shockingly dumped out of the FA Cup earlier in the week by League Two side Grimsby Town, going down 2-1 at home and have now lost their last two matches. Southampton have won just one match all season in the league at home. Against teams closest to them in the table, they have failed to exert themselves, losing against Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Nottingham Forest this year but they did manage a 2-1 win away to Everton. Five straight losses at home in the league suggest this will be another tough outing.

Leicester City were also dumped out of the FA Cup by lower-league opposition this week, losing 2-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers. It was the third straight loss for Brendan Rodgers’ men who had won three straight before this slump. Four of their last five matches have seen at least over 2.5 goals and this is a possible market to consider, given that Southampton have also not been able to keep a shutout in their last nine home matches in the league. The Foxes will be without talismanic midfielder Youri Tielemans for this clash due to injury as well as defenders James Justin and Johnny Evans. They could however be boosted by the return of James Maddison. The midfielder has missed the last two matches with illness.
